Petrified Wood from Australia
This slab of lower Cretaceous conifer is from the Windalia Radiolarite Formation in Jacobs Gully, Mooka Station, Western Australia. It measures 35.25cm x 23cm across the polished face and is just over 1cm thick. This slab is from the same area where they find the peanut wood and it does show several toredo bores. This double hearted slab of conifer was found near Springsure in the Central Highlands region, Queensland, Australia. The age I was given for this material is Miocene but I have not been able to confirm this. There are dicots mixed in with the conifers so it is not the same as the material from the Jurassic Miles/Injun Creek formation.
